Then this book was offered for review and everything changed… you can actually eat the gingerbread house because everything is adhered with a special type of eatable glue called Royal Icing.
The book contains 23 gingerbread houses for all occasions, plus a getting started guide. It lays flat for easy use and has great photos of each house. But what I like best is the fact that the step-by-step instructions are easy to understand and come with a construction (pattern) guide. Oh, and each house is made with graham crackers… the kind you can buy at any grocery store!
While I really like Santa’s Castle, I thought the Fairy Tree House made with Necco wafers was quite genius! And the Mermaid Palace could easily double as homes for gnomes. Oh and the Cozy Cabin sure makes you wish for a Winter Wonderland…and I don’t even like living in the snow!
But what I can’t wait to try for our annual Halloween party next year is the Haunted Mansion and Dracula’s castle which was surprising made out of sandwich cookies, sugar cones, and a waffle cone.
