Family Friendly Television, Is It For You?

My husband says I was born in the wrong era because when I want to watch "family friendly" telelvision, I don't want to hear a bunch of "f" words, I don't want to see half-naked people, and I definitely don't need to see someone's head blown completely off his body. It's becoming increasingly difficult to find such films today. Even children's cartoons seem to contain some form of "adult-related content".

I suppose that's why I get a kick out of 1980 television series like, "Scarecrow and Mrs. King", or why I get ecstatic over children's films like Disney's new "The Princess And The Bride"--even though my daughter is now a teenager and my son is in college.

Maybe I just can't let go of wanting to walk away from something I watch feeling good about myself, instead of feeling as though I need to wash my body or my brain out with soap!

At any rate, The Dabbling Mum has two new reviews up this week:

The Princess And The Frog
I am really disappointed to see so many reviewers turn their noses up to this cute children’s cartoon. Sure, it doesn’t have the same heart as Cinderella or Snow White, but the charm is definitely there! And it’s so refreshing to see a children’s cartoon that doesn’t set out to “entertain the adults with adult-related content”—when a children’s cartoon is just that, a children’s cartoon.

Scarecrow And Mrs. King
It’s such a cute, family-oriented show. There’s action, adventure, comedic antics, and yes, even a little romance. The violence is very minimal. And Mrs. King shows suburban housewives everywhere that their training as mothers can be used for more than just “mothering”.
