Early on Geddes discovered that “…every photographer needs to have their own individual style, a sense that you can do it your own unique way....” and she knew that it would “take years to develop”. But that did not stop her from owning her own photography business. She cultivated her style while working as a portraiture photographer. Then one day she had an epitome that she’d one day be the best baby photographer in the world and set out to make that dream a reality.
And that’s what you’ll discover in Anne Geddes’ new book,
A Labor Of Love
. In the book, Geddes talks about potentially hiring a ghostwriter but later realized that the stories were far too personal to let someone else write. I, for one, am glad she chose to write it herself. There's a genuine softness to her tone that is warm and inviting—like having a cup of java with a friend—that I don’t think that would have happened had a ghostwriter written the words. She speaks from true personal experience which makes this a wonderful inspirational tool for artists and photographers alike. Heck, anyone struggling with finding purpose in their journey through life could glean a little hope from her book.
In Geddes' book,
A Labor Of Love
, she talks a little bit about her life growing up, about meeting her husband, and about starting a family but mostly this is a journey about her rise to fame as a renowned baby photographer. She talks a little about her struggles, a little about how she achieved certain looks, and why she chose the path she chose. There’s even a question and answer segment covering the most frequent questions asked. The photos, of course, are phenomenal!
If you’ve ever wondered who Anne Geddes is and how she got to where is now, this is the book to buy. Buy

heya, responding to your comment on my blog. polymer clay is lots of fun! don't be scared to try it. i love it because if i try to make something and its not just right, i can just redo it with the same piece of clay, not like a lot of other crafts!
Thanks Holly!
DM, thank you for this!
I love Anne Geddes and have a treasured copy of her gorgeous 'Down in the Garden' but know little about her as a person.
Will definitely have to try and get a copy of 'A Labour of Love'
