Write & Sell E-books
BLOG TOUR FEBRUARY 2006

The biggest mistake e-book authors make is writing e-books that have already been done to death, selling information that can easily be found on the Internet, or repackaging common knowledge information. Read More - Sonya Weiss of Family Funnies
The best thing about selling e-books is definitely the money. With a traditional book contract you get so many cents on the dollar. With e-books, you retain the full retail value of the e-book, less any expenses in running your e-book business—which averages to between 30- and 50% of the profits. Read more - The Writer's Life
I think e-book covers are just as important as book covers. Covers should convey the overall concept of the book because graphics draw attention. Read More - Freelance 101
Many people forget that they can burn their e-books to disk. This is a great way to sell their product while on speaking tours about their book’s subject. Read More - Susan Smith Thompson
The first thing I hear from those who take the mentoring sessions is, “you’ve covered everything in the book, but I am concerned about my topic of choice.” When I ask what concerns them, it usually has to do with outlining the book. Read More - Kaleido Souls

But I will tell you this: readers feel ripped off if they receive an e-book with twenty chapters and those chapters are only one page long or consist of graphics that take up over half the page and then three pages in each chapter. Read More - Roz's Corner
If you can narrow your book’s theme down to a very specific niche and then tell all there is to tell about that subject, you’ll have a winner! Just remember to market to the right audience or you won’t sell a single e-book. Read More - Walk McElligott
I feel all writers should have at least one copy of “The Gregg Reference Manual: A Manual of Style, Grammar, Usage, and Formatting;” especially new writers because it will help make them stronger writers. Read More - Off The Top Of My Head
Personally, I don’t like the idea of signing a contract for exclusivity to an e-book publisher. But there are many people who just don’t want to deal with the whole entrepreneur side of things. When you sign a contract with an e-publisher, you get royalty checks and don’t need a business license (in most states). Read More - Mom 2 Mom Connection
Moms who stay at home or work from home also tend to buy e-books over print books because they can research, order, and read while their children are sleeping, which means one less outing. Read More - Vicki McCollum
The first step is to think about why you are writing the e-book. Are you writing it to fulfill a dream of becoming a published author or are you writing it to fill a need? Read More

Hi Alyice,
I'd love to have you visit my blog on your tour promoting e-books. I have many questions, and I'm sure many of my readers are interested in finding ways they can earn extra money from home. Please contact me if you're still on tour!!

Heahter, I emailed you privately the other day. But just wanted to go on record and say, "I'd love to answer your blog questions. I love your blog!"

I have trouble imagining readers of fiction reading e-books. What about literary fiction? How do novels fare as ebooks?
